A long, uneven path

We asked, you answered.

How would you describe yourself?

32 years old, white, German, cis, single mother of a Namibian-German girl (3 years), education officer & team leader for engagement promotion of former volunteers

Imagine you are 72, 80 or even 99 years old: How and with whom do you live together?

Shared flat with other seniors and partners, in the city with a terrace and a kitchen garden

Who are the most important people in your life and how do you spend time with them?

Children and grandchildren; Friends from various engagement and further education contexts, colleagues in partial retirement for peace and development consulting

What is your sex and love life like in the future?

Discreet, physical and platonic, infrequent but pleasant, with people I trust a lot

How do you manage to stay mentally and physically fit?

Means of transport require physical exercise according to one’s own possibilities, e.g. e-bike or solidarity-collectively operated body strength enhancement busses. Pub quiz. Nature. Yoga

How do you afford everyday life in the future?

Basic income plus additional earnings from flexible partial retirement

In the future, what do you get up for in the morning?

As an old person, my knowledge is valued. I share my knowledge from my previous professional activities and advise on peace and engagement promotion in Germany, Europe and southern Africa. And I regularly have grandchildren duty (my own grandchildren and elective kinship)

If you had to tell a young friend about all the things you’ve done right while ageing and would thus recommend to them… What would they be?

As we continue to develop, we accept that this is a long, odd path. Not everything always has to go “ahead” and run optimally. Enjoy every moment, although it can be shit or boring at times. Always be open to change.
