Who am I?

I’m a 29 years old woman living in Berlin with a big interest in learning about cultures and ways of living. I’m a digital nomad and singer.

Why am I interested in tourism?

I travel and want to travel a lot. I think tourism has a lot of touch points with different sectors and can therefore impact people immensely.

Dear Eva-Maria,

I’ve been traveling the west-coast of Colombia for a few weeks now and have made incredible experiences. Everything has changed so much since I’ve been here 20 years ago as a backpacker! For one, you can drink amazing coffee everywhere here since the first choice selection of beans stays in the country and isn’t exported anymore. New delicious creations have been inspired by this newly found self-confidence like “jugo de espresso oro” with maracuja juice. 🙂

At the moment I’m staying with Lucía, a friend I met at a pacifico jam session inspired by Balkan music. Lucía is a passionate drummer and singer and travelled through the Balkan on an art fund for some time. Now she’s experimenting with mixing colombian and balkan music styles.

Many people have had the opportunity to explore the world through the so called “Intercambio Creativo Internacional”, a travel support by the government. Touristic profits are saved and provided as a creative exchange fund that Colombians can apply for. Good thing, because fossil-flights are the most expensive they’ve been in years – I paid 3000€ from Berlin to Cali! I saved years for this flight! Fortunately, the new electric plane airline “Zapdos” is launching next year.

I’m sending you all the love my dear, see you soon! Kitty

Wishes and hopes behind the image of the future:

1. “For the future of tourism I hope that…

local businesses are the focus of touristic action. They profit from money spent and can invest in their own infrastructures to become more independent.

2. “If I could wish for anything at all, I would…

wish for a cultural exchange with locals that is on eye level because everyone can travel and visit other countries.

3. “If I were a powerful politician, I would…

invest as much as possible in developing fossil-free technologies for mobility like electric planes, fast trains and tax fuel of airplanes.
