The effects of the new regulation on the partial generalisation of land ownership are awesome.
Of course, it is still disconcerting that we can no longer individually decide how our garden and house are being used. But our visit to Portugal has just opened my eyes to the potential it has. It changes our view of humanity. It makes us all supposedly “homeless” and at the same time it brings us closer together. We need each other more. We know that our fellow human beings feel the same way. And knowing that, we share differently.
I have never experienced so much openness towards me and my culture as on this trip. Despite the language barrier, we met as people and exchanged ideas. Without fear that one could take something away from the other. I am curious to see what ongoing effect this will have on our global togetherness.

Wishes and hopes behind the image of the future:
1. “For the future of tourism I hope that…”
tourists are more aware of their impact and not capital-oriented.
2. “If I could wish for anything at all, I would…”
wish that eventually, tourism will no longer be seen mainly as an invasion into local culture, but, through a more participatory approach, as an extension or addition to local culture.
3. “If I were a powerful politician, I would…”
seek to draw attention to the complexity of contexts and promote empathetic and nuanced attitudes.
