Tourist trip to the past

Who am I?

I am a 36-year-old woman that moved to the Rhineland and is looking for meaning, with 1000 interests, a great husband and great friend, who likes to have good conversations, finds people very exciting and works as an Innovation-Coach and a Moderator.

Why am I interested in tourism?

I have travelled a lot, find other cultures exciting and believe that travelling is the best way to educate yourself. However, last year the Corona-Crisis showed me that the travelling radius can be much smaller than I thought.

Hello dear Max,

What a pity you couldn’t come with us today. Do you think you will be able to join us tomorrow? That was such an exciting round and such a beautiful exchange in the middle of our Vietnam/USA experience and encounter week. Even after so many years, I still find it amazing how real these experiences and encounters feel.

Today we first went into the jungle, hiked together for two hours and then tasted the different fruits available in this area. Hoa, whom we visited, lived in 1952 and had just had a short period of peace before the Vietnam War started. Such joy for the future and such relief to have put the Indochina war, which nevertheless was still going on in other parts, behind us! At dinner, I was totally moved by the exchange with Hoa and Jim and the perspectives of my fellow travellers.

If you can still make it tomorrow, we will be in XY to visit Jim’s village, also in 1952, who will then be in the very same village ten years later, during the war. What a blessing to be able to experience this: The possibility to really understand what it was like, to put ourselves in the shoes of different people instead of just reading about it.

A thousand kisses,

Anna

Wishes and hopes behind the image of the future:

1. “For the future of tourism I hope that…

it allows for more encounters and less hierarchical service exchanges.

2. “If I could wish for anything at all, I would…

wish that travel would be possible for all people in a climate-friendly way, that it would promote exchange and understanding and that travel would be available to all – not only for privileged Europeans and Americans.

3. “If I were a powerful politician, I would…

integrate travel into education from the beginning.
